'It Appears That...' is a dance work that
explores the state of the human condition through the realms of
relationship between people and flowers. The piece is inspired by the
idea of Guerrilla Gardening which is the act of gardening public spaces
without permission. Borrowing from this man-made 'organic' war, 'It Appears That...'
investigates the structure of our environment and ourselves through
gardening metaphors: be it 'sowing' the seeds of revolution and reaping
the 'fruits of destruction'; or contesting issues through the
landscape rather than the person. This cross-pollination looks at how
the use of different spaces reaches out to people from different
perspectives.
This newly commissioned work by choreographer Ricky Sim takes you on an earthy journey in unexpected ways.
A
professional dancer, choreographer and educator for more than 15
years, Sim has worked with many local dance and theatre companies and
national events. He has also worked internationally in Asia, America and
Europe and has represented Singapore in many international festivals
and events.
